Coventry & District 65s won a hard-fought semi-final against premier league opposition Birmingham Blues, beating them 1-0, to advance to the league cup final. There, they will face Solihull Moors, who beat MSA Burntwood 4-3 in their semi-final.
Coventry, from Division 1, will start as the underdogs against Premier Division champions Solihull Moors. However, Coventry should take heart from having already beaten two premiership sides to get to the final and will go all out for the win.
In its first full season, the Coventry 65s finished in the top 4 of Division 1, only just missing out on third place. A first for some players and the manager, the team were also complemented by the experienced 70s league players, which has proved crucial during the season, as it will be in the cup final.
